Malboer Steyn won his first pro Fight on Saturday.
Smit Malboer Steyn turned pro on Saturday night when he fought in the EFC Worldwide Championship.
Steyn had a dream debut when he beat British Boloyoang in the Welterweight division in what was labelled as the fight of the night.
Smit Steyn defeated British Boloyoang via KO/TKO at 3:31 of Round 2.
Steyn had the following to say about his opponent at the post-match interview. “I knew he hit hard but didn’t think that it was that hard,” Steyn said laughingly, “Jis daai ou slaan hard!”
“We had a gameplan, we knew that he was going to gass-out since he was from Durban.” he said, “I saw him putting everything into the punches and knew that he will tire so I had to play punching bag for a bit to wait for him to tire out.”
“I saw during the break, over my coaches shoulder, that he was tired and I knew I had him then.” Steyn continued, “My coach did a lot of planning and I am glad that I listened to him.”
Malboer now has one win in the bag as a professional and as a amature was the 2nd ranked of 21 active South Africa Amateur Middleweights. Also ranked at Welterweight (4th)
We are sure that he will go to great heights in his professional career.
MUNICIPALITY OFFICIAL AND TWO OTHERS APPEARED IN COURT FOR RDP HOUSES FRAUD, CORRUPTION, FORGERY, THEFT AND MONEY LAUNDERING
MPUMALANGA – Vusumuzi Phakane (52) Emalahleni Municipality official, Justice Sambo (46) and Caroline Koloane (29) appeared before the Emalahleni Magistrate Court on Friday 13 August 2021, after they were arrested by members of the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team Mpumalanga on Wednesday 13 August 2021 for Fraud, Corruption, Theft, Forgery and Money Laundering.
It is alleged that during October 2020 the accused Phakane who is employed by Municipality as Community Municipal Coordinator had access to information on RDP houses around Emalahleni and colluded with Sambo to sell those houses. The two approached Kgoalane and used her as the advertiser.
The unsuspecting victims would respond to the advert seen on social media and be directed by the syndicate to the Municipality offices to complete the agreement of sale forms.
They would be further advised to go to the lawyers for the agreement and the victims became convinced that the sale is legitimate. They would be told to make the payment into Sambo’s Nedbank account. The syndicate allegedly shared the money amongst themselves.

Whilst the victim occupies the newly purchased house, other victims would also come and produce documents as proof of purchase for the same house. The victims lost approximately R300 000.00
The matter was reported to the Hawks for investigation. During the investigation, it was established that the lawful owners of the houses are still alive. The suspects were linked to the allegations, traced and arrested.
The three suspects appeared in court, Phakane and Kgoalane were released on R10 000 bail each while Sambo was remanded in custody because he has previous convictions. The case was postponed to 20 August 2021 for Sambo’s formal bail applications
The Provincial Head of the Directorate For Priority Crime Investigation Major General Zodwa Mokoena warned the public about the scammers who are unlawfully selling the Government houses. She further reiterated that there is no way that the government houses can be sold. The public is therefore encouraged to report such types of incidents. Major General Mokoena concluded.

Students at Diligent Students Tutor Centre saw a post on The Bulletin outlining the struggles that Bethal SPCA faces and decided to reach out to them.

This food will go a long way towards feeding the animals as they are always in need of food for the animals. The SPCA is under tremendous pressure to gather funds as people are more and more reluctant to donate under the severe restrictions of the COVID pandemic.

People rally against the Sasol vaccination program through the Pro-choice group.
People are unhappy about the seemingly forced vaccination program by Sasol.
The Bulletin recently posted a few articles regarding the Sasol vaccination program. The first was when the rollout was done at Sasol club and the second was about the Statement by Solidariteit regarding the costs for the tests and Sasol’s response.
Sabelo Sibanda, an Advocate at the South African High Court and well-known Activist Debbie Else visited Secunda over the past week to obtain first-hand knowledge about the situation in our area, in particular regarding the Sasol Vaccination drive in conjunction with The Mpumalanga Department of Health.
Sasol said the following in a recent statement:
From 30 August till the end of September 2021, the Sasol Secunda Operations plant will undergo a major facility shutdown for statutory maintenance to critical infrastructure and equipment.
During this period, the size of the workforce on site will increase substantially to nearly 20 000 people, comprising Sasol employees and those of service providers.
Sasol further regards vaccination of the workforce involved in activities on-site during the shutdown period as a necessary and effective measure to mitigate the increased workplace exposure to the COVID-19 and the risk of it spreading.

It is for this reason that employees that will be participating in activities on-site during the shutdown period are expected to submit either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test (an antigen test will be accepted) result not older than 7 days prior to commencement of the shutdown activities, and to be repeated during the shutdown period every 7 days
The Bulletin spoke to both Sabelo Sibanda and Debbie Els regarding their view, as well as a few other people, regarding the measures that Sasol put in place to try and limit the spread.
“It is very unfair, unconstitutional and illegal for any employer to force people to take the vaccine, “said Debbie Els, “everybody calls it a vaccine, I don’t believe that it is a vaccine. I believe that it is a jab. It has not gone through its trial yet.”
“People should not be forced to take an experimental drug,” she said.
Sabelo Sibanda said that the most critical thing is the public awareness aspect. “I always say that the law is a tool by which to do unlawful things, The law in this country is written in such a way that it excludes a lot of people. What we are doing is to ensure that people understand how policies, that they are asked to adhere to, relate to national legislation, and how that relates to the constitution.”
Sabelo is of the view that employers are using underhanded methods to compel employees to be vaccinated. “There are companies that have promised employees promotions based on their vaccinations.”
He strongly believes in Informed Consent and promising promotions violates that consent.
The bottom line is “People have a right to say no!”
The Bulletin asked Debbie about her view on asking people to receive the vaccination or testing regularly. We asked if that does not constitute a choice?
“I do believe that shutdown is a super spreader event,” Debbie said, “People, however, can not afford to pay for the test every week. They will end up working just to get the test done. That is forcing people, not giving them a choice!”
“According to CDC, WHO and a few others, Vaccinated and Unvaccinated are equal spreaders of the virus. CDC recalled the PCR test and said that it is not adequate so why are you still forcing people to have the test?”
They used their time here in Secunda to gather information. The info needs now to be researched and evaluated. Only then will the next step be formulated and communicated to the interested parties.
“This process is about people feeling so pressurised that they are making decisions that they would not have taken before,” Said Sabelo, “it is literally about people being herded like cattle and they don’t have a say in it.

SUSPECTS SOUGHT FOR SHOOTING AND INJURING ON-DUTY POLICE OFFICERS
MPUMALANGA –Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Zodwa Mokoena strongly condemned the incident in which two police officers, aged 38 and 42 were shot and injured, on Monday, 09 August 2021 at Block C in Tonga near Komatipoort.
According to the information received, the members were on duty, doing a routine patrol when they unknowingly drove by a business burglary was in progress. Upon noticing the police vehicle, the suspects opened fire and a shootout ensued.
Two members were rushed to the hospital for medical attention after they sustained injuries during the shooting. There is no arrest at this stage whilst the investigation is ongoing.
The police in Mpumalanga request anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to please contact the investigating officers Lt Col Erhard Stroh on 0823008315 or Warrant Officer Mduduzi Aubrey Motubatse on 0721950185 or call the Crime Stop number at 0860010111. Alternatively, members of the public can send information via MYSAPSAPP. All information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
“An attack on the Police is an attack on the state, we will therefore not leave any stone unturned and we will ensure that those who commit such heinous acts against our officers in blue are found and face the full might of the law,” said Major General Mokoena.
AfriForum control room in the Northern region helps to combat crime
AfriForum’s control room for the northern region, which includes Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, in June and July 2021 handled more than 367 incidents and continuously supported the organisation’s neighbourhood watches in these provinces. The purpose of the control room is to assist AfriForum neighbourhood watches by ensuring that help and other necessary resources can be summoned faster.
The incidents that were handled include, among others, 41 missing persons, five farm attacks, 101 rioting incidents and support with 114 stolen vehicles. The AfriForum neighbourhood watches in the three provinces held almost 2 000 patrols in June and July: 781 in Gauteng, 292 in Mpumalanga and 830 in Limpopo. Approximately 2 007 people participated in these patrols.
“The control room offers overall support to AfriForum neighbourhood watches. Neighbourhood watch members at grassroots level focus more on the tactical side – problems being experienced and solutions for it – where the control room functions more operational to make sure the emergency services are aware of the problems,” says Llewellynn Hemmens, AfriForum’s Head of Community Safety for the northern region.
“A trend that significantly increased this month was of course the riots that affected everyone. We did however learn a lot of lessons from it and neighbourhood and farm watches were able to implement the necessary contingency plans to aid the authorities. This resulted in us having to adjust the patrols considering that this type of crime usually places a lot of pressure on government institutions with limited resources. We would like to thank the personnel that sacrifice their time every day to make a difference,” adds Hemmens.
ANIMALS 101 – THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO HELP ANIMAL WELFARE WITHOUT HAVING TO DONATE.
Animal welfare always needs your help for those without a voice! Your help does not have to be financial. There are ways to prevent animal welfare organisations from being overwhelmed or to stop animal cruelty by not taking part in cruel practices (even unknowingly). There are also red flag organisations to watch out for!
You can lighten our load!
Before I share how you can help, I want to mention 2 important aspects to always keep in mind when you decide which organisation to support. They have to be RESPONSIBLE and FINANCIALLY TRANSPARENT.
The fraud and mismanagement in animal welfare is shocking and happens under the public’s nose. Although many groups want to help, for us it is important that they are a registered NPO/NPC. Registering however is super easy and anyone can do it, therefore this is not an indication that the organisation is reputable. We know of organisation that are fronts for breeders and pet shops or who breeds themselves. This is counterproductive to the goals of animal welfare as we need to stop the massive overpopulation crisis through sterilisation, education and by restricting animal trading. The way organisations handle adoptions is also a good indicator of how responsible they are. They should never allow someone to adopt for someone else and if they do not have proper paperwork in place nor include sterilisation and a home checks, then they are not a responsible organisations!
Obviously, donations are always welcome, but if you do this, we want to encourage you to only donate to organisations who are financially transparent! What do we mean? Any organisation that asks money from the public, should be held accountable, by the same public, on how they spend funds. Let’s say you donate to an organisation and the majority of the money goes to salaries, but they euthanize 80% or more of the animals. Should you then be donating funds to such an organisation? They also have to be willing to make their financial statements available and on time, without constant excuses. If they don’t, we have to suspect they hide something. If they ask for money for Buddy’s treatment, they have to be transparent in saying we raised all the money for Buddy and this is what we are going to do with the extra funds. It is also not good financial practice if a non-profit’s funding goes into a personal account or all of it goes through a for-profit business account. Yes you can pay for a veterinary treatment into that organisation’s account at the vet, but anything else in terms of this is a concern to us.
