PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER WELCOMES THE ARREST OF A MAN ON ALLEGATIONS OF DEALING IN DAGGA
Nelspruit – The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has welcomed the arrest of a 44-year-old man who was nabbed in the afternoon of yesterday, Wednesday, 15 September 2021 at Mzinti near Tonga after being reportedly found in possession of dagga to the estimated street value of about R252 000. The man is due to appear before the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court today, Thursday, 16 September 2021.
It is reported that police at Tonga were busy patrolling around the area when they spotted a suspicious VW Polo. The members stopped the vehicle and upon searching, 110 bags of compressed dagga weighing about 168 kg were found inside. The man was then arrested and the vehicle confiscated. The suspect is charged with dealing in dagga. Police believe that the man is from the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Manamela further applauded members for their vigilance which yielded positive results as the man was arrested before the seized dagga reached its destination.

Daarmee word nie bedoel die opsetlike en beplande kaping van staatsfondse van miljarde rande, of wrede moorde of verkragtings nie, dit is iets heel anders. Eenvoudig maar gewone mense wat onder groot druk of donkerte die verkeerde keuses gemaak het. Dinge effens kras gestel het, hulself swak uitgedruk het.
Die hartseer is dat sulke persone se foute dikwels gepaardgaan met ‘n aaklige, onvergewensgesinde en onmenslike behandeling deur ander mense. Die gewese Suid-Afrikaanse krieketkaptein Hansie Cronjé het ‘n misstap begaan wat hom oornag in ‘n uitgeworpene verander het. Daar is met smaak in die media vertel dat hy vir die res van sy lewe op geen krieketterrein toegelaat sou word nie, dat hy selfs nie eens klein kinders sou mag afrig nie.

Die vroulike advokaat, wat tans ‘n baie prominente pos in Suid Afrika beklee, het in Hansie se tugverhoor strikvrae gevra en korte mette gemaak met sy geloofsbelydenis en smekinge om vergifnis. Spotprente is van Hansie en die duiwel geteken. In ‘n hartseer-artikel het iemand geskryf hoe hy by ‘n groot gholfdag was en toe hy opkyk, het Hansie skugter in die deur gestaan, en geaarsel of hy mag inkom.

Onvergewensgesinde, harde en ongenaakbare optrede teenoor ander mense bring maklik ‘n element van vervreemding mee. Dit isoleer mense van hulle omgewing, hulself, en dit kaap die doel waarvoor hulle op die aarde geplaas is. Vervreemding deur andere kan op soveel vlakke van jou lewe gebeur, van jou werksomgewing, jou sosiale kringe, tot die mees intieme, soos jou huisgesin en jou huwelik.
As mense eendag om ‘n vuur oor jou sit en praat, wat sal hulle onthou? Waarna sou hulle verlang, waaraan sal hulle vasklou, watter water uit die fontein van jou lewe sou hulle die graagste aan wou bly drink? Of is dit dalk so dat net jou foute jou sal oorleef? Dit kan maklik gebeur dat ons so sterk ingestel is op die foute wat andere gemaak het, dat ons maklik vergeet van die waarde wat hulle tot ons lewe toegevoeg het in die verlede.
Die een wat altyd omgegee het, wat beskerm het, wat almal kon laat lag, of mense verder laat dink het, wat wysheid uitgestraal het, wat onvoorwaardelik kon liefhê, kan maklik gereduseer word tot ‘n patetiese bondeltjie selfbejammering, omdat hy of sy hulself elke dag vasloop teen die onvergewensgesindheid en ongenaakbaarheid wat ook Hansie Cronje ervaar het. Mens sal oopkop hieroor moet nadink. Want, soos met die tragiese sterwe van Hansie, kom spyt altyd te laat.
Omdat baie mense moeilik die verkeerde en ondeurdagte vergeet, vergeet hulle ook die goeie. Sondae word vir Asasel (die een wat weggestuur word volgens Levitikus 16), die eensaamste dag van die week, Kersfees en Oujaar word ‘n emosionele slagting. ‘n Ewige onthou van ondeurdagte dade en woorde beroof eintlik die hardvogtige een van soveel; dit beroof jou van iemand wat jou kan vertroos, wat saam met jou langs die vuur kan sit met ‘n glasie wyn, dit steel iemand wat saam met jou kan koerant lees en televisie kyk. Iemand om saam mee te lag.
Dit beroof jou van iemand wat vir jou sê: “Ek is lief vir jou.” Stilte kom lê soos ‘n dolk in sy huis, Vrydagaande voel soos huil, Saterdae soos leeg, Sondae soos slaap, weeksaande moet net verbygaan. Geen vuur is groot genoeg om te troos nie, geen musiek is mooi genoeg om die hartseer te verdoof nie. Wanneer is genoeg uiteindelik genoeg? Wanneer kan en moet ander se foute in ons koppe ophou bestaan?
As die foutmaker se woorde opgeraak het, sy oë dof geraak het? As haar hart uitgedop is, of sy hele lyftaal dit uitskreeu: “Ek kan nie meer nie!” As hulle nie meer kan probeer lééf, nie meer om vergifnis kan vra, hulself voortdurend kruisig , huil, en verdor soos ‘n eendagblom?

Genoeg is genoeg as jy jou oë oopmaak, en sien dat nie een mens ooit totaal onskuldig is, volmaak is in al sy woorde, gedagtes en dade nie. As jy dit besef, is jy gereed om nuwe lewe te spreek oor diegene om jou wat duur betaal vir hulle foute, en wat naarstigtelik probeer regmaak.
Want dan begin jy te wéét dat mense mekaar kan verwoes. Dat jy iemand kan verwoes. Oordeel en verwerping is niks sagter noodwendig as die foute wat die verstoteling gemaak het nie.
Genoeg is genoeg lê op die vlak van vergewe, van nuwe kanse gee. Genoeg is wanneer jy begin besef wat ongenaakbaarheid en onvrede aan ander mense kan doen, en ophou daarmee. Weet is die laaste druppel in die vol emmer van ver genoeg gegaan.
‘n Sagte stem kan alles verander. ‘n Aanraking, aandag, ‘n glimlag.Daar is duisende redes waarom ons aarde toe kom. Om te leer, lief te hê, mense te laat lag, goed te laat voel oor hulleself. Ons kan natuurlik ook hier wees om ander mense te veroordeel, af te skryf en te ignoreer.
Uiteindelik kom dit neer op een saak: Ons kies hoe ons onthou wil word.

Bruno, the dog in question, is a favourite with all the children at Kriel Kinderhawe. There are a few other animals as well.

ANIMALS 101 – WHY PETS SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN AS GIFTS.
The festive season is not too far away, but whether it is a puppy for Christmas, bunnies for Easter, a kitten for a birthday or something else, animals should not be on the shopping list!
There are people who buy animals for themselves and those who buy them for others. Both can be equally dangerous if the person who has to take care of the pet is not prepared to be a proper pet guardian/owner. Buying pets for someone else is a particularly bad idea!
SHOULD ANIMALS BE GIVEN AS GIFTS?
NO!!!! and here is why:
1. Animals are not and should never be seen as commodities. They are sentient beings and not disposable toys. Giving them as gifts sends the wrong message and is usually an impulse buy.
2. Animals are not gifts, they are 10-20 years (or more) commitments.
3. Many animals given as gifts find their way to shelters a short time after. According to some studies at least 14% if not more. This sounds low to you, but in an overwhelmed animal welfare system, this is 14% on top of crowded shelters and it could have been prevented.
4. Children’s attention span will fit better with a stuffed toy than a sentient being whose needs should be a priority. Children lose interest quickly.
HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING?
Interest: Did this person already express interest in owning a pet?
Cost & Resources: Is the recipient financially capable, stable and willing to pay for food, supplies, veterinary care, and other services over the animal’s lifetime? You don’t want to give them a gift of debt.
Time & Energy: Does the recipient have time for daily exercise, interaction, and play? How active are they? How often is this person at home? Although you might love the animal, they do not come without work.
Space: What kind of environment will the animal live in? How big is the yard or space to move in? Does the building or residence have any restrictions on pets?
The Future: Do they plan to move locally or possibly overseas? Are there kids on the way or job changes coming? Could their financial situation change soon?
Compatibility: What kind of animal would fit this recipient’s lifestyle best? Are they right for that animal? It is not just about the owner, but also about the needs of the animal.
Age: Is this pet age appropriate? Some kids are too young to take responsibility for the pet and buying pets for elderly parents can be just as irresponsible.
Health: Does the recipient have allergies or other conditions that would conflict with caring for this pet?
Other Pets: Will this new animal get along with other animals in the household?
They say you don’t show gifts away. When it comes to animals as gifts, you should, if you did not plan or want them at that stage. The animals usually pay the price if you take them.
Thank them.
Decline the gift.
Worse case (not ideal), you take the animal and tell the giver you are going to surrender them to a shelter that can find a suitable home. This is probably not the first time this person did this and they need to learn to take responsibility for their choices.
WHEN IT COMES TO ANIMALS WE ARE RARELY FOR EXCEPTIONS, BUT WE WOULD RATHER ADVISE IN ADVANCE OR PROVIDE SOLUTIONS IF SUCH A SITUATION DOES OCCUR.
If nothing from above convinced you then….HERE ARE SOME OTHER KEY CONSIDERATIONS:
Only give animals as gifts to direct family.
Take responsibility for the life of that animal. If you are not willing to be the back-up home for the animal you gave as a gift, then please don’t do it.
Animals as gifts should never be a surprise as the new owner needs to be prepared.
Avoid impulse. You went to the store for milk, not a puppy.
Give without giving. We mentioned picking a suitable pet for the recipient and the best way you can do that is through adoption. Go to your local shelter and pay the adoption fees and let the potential owner go through a responsible process of adoption with the shelter.
THE LIFE OF AN ANIMAL IS IN YOUR HANDS……ARE YOU WILLING TO RISK THEIR LIFE AS A GIFT?
REMEMBER if you bought or took a pet for free and did not adopt through a reputable organisation……then you just fuelled the overpopulation crisis and made the work of a shelter harder.

Never before had our municipal elections been so controversial and under so much pressure as this year’s municipal elections.
Not only do the demarcation board shift the ward boundaries for every election, but Covid also had its hand to play in the approaching elections.
Political parties are contesting some issues in court and some political parties did not submit all their lists in time.
It is very important to have your address correctly registered at the IEC as you will only be allowed to vote in the ward that you are residing in.
This weekend, 18 and 19 September will be the last chance to correct your registration details or to register if you did not do so before.
The IEC’s national spokesperson, Kate Bapela, said that registration would run from 8 pm to 5 pm on both days and that those registering must present a South African bar-coded identity document, a smart ID card or a temporary ID certificate.
“If you are an existing voter whose personal information has changed, it is compulsory to update or amend your details before voting day. This can either be done online or at the voting/registration stations in your area.”
“On Monday, 01 November 2021 South Africa will hold local government elections in towns and cities across the country. You may be eligible for a special vote at your voting station if you are unable to vote on Election Day.

Special voting takes place on a date set in the election timetable, which is usually the day before the by-election day.
Special vote applications must be submitted during a set period as specified in the election timetable (usually about two weeks before the by-election date).
You can apply at the local IEC office where the by-election is taking place, or online at this address, or by SMSing your ID number to 32249 ( R1 per SMS).
You will be notified of the progress of your application. Only voters whose applications are approved (successful) may cast a special vote.
Die Covid pandemie het ook sy tol ge-eis op die skole skiet kompetisie. Kompetisies kon nie meer gehou word in die tradisionele sin van die woord nie en so ook moes die SA’s dan ook met ‘n “pos” kompetisie beslis word.
Die skuts kon egter heeljaar skiet aangesien dit nie ‘n groot samekoms is nie.
Die skuts van Hoërskool Hoogenhout blink uit in die sport. Daar is 8 skuts waarvan 4 in die provinsiale span opgeneem is en gekwalifiseer het vir die Suid Afrikaanse Nasionale Posliga.
Die 4 skuts is ook almal eerste jaar skuts wat die prestasie soveel groter maak. Die twee seuns, Diaan Olivier, Jan Hendrik Jansen V Vuuren, is albei onder 14 en die twee dogters, Mekaela Engelbrecht en Suané Enslin, is onder 16.

Die konsentrasie is groot.
Die Suid-Afrikaanse Nasionale Skoleskutters unie (SANSSU) bestaan uit skuts vanuit 10 provinsiale skietunies, met skuts so jonk as 9 jaar tot en met matriek. Skuts neem deel in geweer-, presisie-, veer- en pistoolklasse, onder verskeie ouderdomsgroepe en dissiplines op ‘n 10 m afstand.

Die gewere word volgens ‘n spesifieke standaard vervaardig en is baie akuraat. Die klein koëltjies wat gebruik word weeg slegs 0,53 gram. As dit selfs ‘n fraksie minder of meer weeg kan dit die skuts negatief beinvloed.
Die kompetisie was binneshuis aangebied om eksterne faktore hok te slaan. Die skiet afstand is slegs 10 meter maar die teiken is ongelooflik klein. Die skuts skiet elke keer op ‘n nuwe teiken aangesien daar soms nie plek is om ‘n tweede skoot te kan plaas nie.

Suspected illegal miner found with an illegal Gold Bearing Material lab
MPUMALANGA –Thabang Ntsibane(34), an undocumented Lesotho National was remanded in custody by the Graskop Magistrate Court on Friday 10 September 2021 after he was arrested during a multi-disciplinary Intelligence-driven disruptive operation conducted by Nelspruit Serious Organised Crime, National Intervention Unit and Crime Intelligence on Thursday 09 September 2021.
The disruptive operation was conducted at Pilgrim Rest focusing on illegal mining where Ntsibane was found operating an illegal Gold Bearing Material lab. The team seized bags of gold-bearing materials and cash money found in the possession of the suspect.
The suspect was charged for Contravening the Precious Metals Act, Act 37 of 2005 and Immigration Act, Act 13 of 2002.
The case against the suspect is remanded to Wednesday 15 September 2021 for formal bail application and verification of the status of the suspect in the country.
VEHICLE FRAUDSTER SENTENCED TO 23 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR OVER R1. 6M FRAUD
MPUMALANGA – A 32 year- old Zimbabwean Arthur Moyo was found guilty and sentenced by the Middleburg Regional Court on Friday 10 September 2021 for over R1. 6 million Fraud.
Moyo was Convicted for four counts of fraud and one count of contravening Sec18(1) and Sec18 (2) of the Identification Act Act 68 of 1997. He was sentenced to 23 years imprisonment, however, the Court ruled that accused will serve 15 years effectively.
Moyo’s Conviction came after he went to Nel Auto Mazda Witbank and Ford in Nelspruit and used counterfeit bank statements, Salary slips, counterfeit ID documents bearing his photo to made applications for vehicle finance in November 2017. After the applications were approved he collected the said vehicles.
The same Modus Operandi was used at Klerksdorp Motor Smart on 17 November 2016. Again in Polokwane Galactic Auto on 13 January 2017. Lastly in Rustenburg, Leons Rustenburg Ford on 13 January 2017. The total value suffered by the banks is over R1. 6 Million.
The Provincial Head for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Major General Zodwa Mokoena welcome the sentence. She further applauded the investigating team for securing a successful conviction on multiple cases in all three provinces which are Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng.
