DIY Hair mask with L & A
With the weather becoming increasingly warmer these days and the sun beaming down onto us with its full summer force, you can start to notice some changes to your hair. According to the Cleveland Clinic, if your hair has prolonged exposure to the sun, UVA and UVB rays can damage the outside cover of the hair strand, called the cuticle. So how can you tell whether your hair is damaged or not? Your hair will show some of the following symptoms, when it’s damaged; discoloration, dry and brittle strands, broken or split ends, thinning and frizziness. All of this is more evident during the harsh summer heat.

- Honey, Egg and Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Mask
This mask works wonder on dry, brittle hair. If your hair is feeling (and looking) a little parched, try this honey, egg and apple cider vinegar mask. It is a great hydrating treatment that provides shine and nourishes without weighing down strands.
Combine 1 teaspoon of honey and apple cider vinegar with 1 egg in a small bowl. Leave it on for 30 – 40 minutes before rinsing.
- Cinnamon and Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Does it feel like you’ve been growing and growing and growing your hair and it’s just not getting any longer? This mask will definitely assist in hair growth. The anti-microbial is known to stimulate blood circulation and promote hair growth and strength.
Use equal parts cinnamon and coconut oil in this hair mask and blend them together. Apply the mask onto the roots and massage into your scalp. Now, let it sit for almost 45 minutes and rinse. You should aim to do this mask at least once a week to see the best results.
- Green Tea , Apple Cider Vinegar and Peppermint Essential Oil Hair Mask
This mask is more aimed towards irritated scalps, which is also more prone in summer when we tend to spend our days in and around the pool swimming in chlorine water. An irritated scalp can also lead to thinning and even falling hair. It is because of this that you want to solve this problem as soon as possible.
The antioxidants and nutrients in the green tea calms and rebalances the irritated scalp. Simply add a few drops of peppermint oil which complements the concoction. Peppermint has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe and hydrate a dry scalp.

This lovely mixture contains 1 cup of green tea, 2 drops of peppermint oil and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. You mix it all together and massage it into the scalp. Allow it to sit for at least five minutes before rinsing.
