What a season for Pandas!

Congratulations to PANDAS! The players have kept the FAITH in the Panda structure and management. After a very difficult 2019, suspensions and clubs in Mpumalanga boycotting Pandas, we have made 2019/2020 National Championships the best ever by a Puma squad.


First, we need to start with the NBF and SANDF tournaments.
You have done a superb job. The key word this year would be Efficiency because you have delivered. From the power outages, stalls, bar and all the way to live streaming, referees and technical staff, well done on a superb national championship.
PUMAS
A recap on the past 21 days at the National Blackball Championships. (NBF)
Since 2005 NBF’s first National Championships, you have eventually delivered. Hard work, trust, faith and dedication. That was the key into the success story of 2019/2020.
TITLES, Podium finishes and Player of the Tournament awards was on the agenda for 2019/2020 PUMA Squad.
Grand Masters
Pumas finish 3rd in the team event

Jackson Mashetsi won back to back SA title.
Jan Ferreira, Jackson Mashetsi and Kagiso Komape all finish in the top 12.

Women
For the first time we sent a women’s team with only one player who has played Nationals before. Outstanding performances from the women on the team under the watchful eye of Nicola Rossouw.
Nicola on winning the National Champs, finished nr 1 Seed for the event. Nicola finished in the Top 12.
Nicola on winning her 8th South African NBF Title.
U/23
Just missed out on the podium finished in 4th. The best performance from a Puma U/23 team in 15 years of National NBF Championships.

Masters
A spirited performance from the Masters as a fairly new team tackled the best in SA.
Men
SO close but yet so far! Pumas 1 and Pumas 2 both finished in the Top 10.
Pumas 1 finishing second with only 1 loss in the tournament.
Aden, Vishen and Kyle with Top 12 finishes.
Pumas 1 recording 45 Breaks and Finishes.
Aden Joseph hunted his 9th title, but played an inform Kyle Akaloo. Congratulations to Kyle as hard work payed off.

34 Months… The time it took Pandas to turn Panda’s Cue Sport into one of the BEST Clubs in Africa.

Competing with the best in SA
Under the watchful co-owner, Hendry Erasmus you have kept the faith and trust to make sure that PANDAS will become a force to be reckoned with in South Africa.
Western Cape is purely the BEST Province in SA, with standout performances from KZN and Gauteng. Because of good deals, time, effort, negotiations and hard work, Pandas has created a POWERFUL product in Puma country.
To the more serious side…NBF has delivered.
Blackball International has spoken
Hopefully Mpumalanga Cue Sport would accept PANDAS in 2020 and be part of the celebrations PANDAS has created for Mpumalanga.
PANDAS will work in FULL force with the YOUTH and SCHOOLS in 2020.

40th annual Sasol Secunda Marathon

With 1 657 entrants in the 40th Sasol Secunda Marathon this year, it turned out to be a huge success. This race is a Comrades Marathon qualifier and did not disappoint this year.


Even with the mist lying low on the ground at the start at 06:00 on Saturday morning, 15 February, the cool air was enjoyed by all the runners.

Sasol Secunda Ladies beat Bethal Bears Ladies in T20

The first T20 of the ladies’ tournament took place on Sunday, 16 February. Bethal Bears Ladies won the toss and elected to bat first.
First ball of the innings saw Nanette Behr, Bears captain, lose her wicket with Elizma Heydenreich taking a catch off Brigitte Binneman’s bowling. Sasol Secunda took wickets at regular intervals wrapping up the innings with the Bears Ladies making 92 all out. Pick of the bowlers was Bianca Brummer that took 3 wickets.


Bethal Bears took to the field and knocked over a quick 3 wickets in the first two overs. Marie-Louise Forbeck and Terry-Lee Kleynhans pulled the match back by staying at the crease until the end. Marie-Louise played a steady innings making 22 not out and Terry-Lee 46 not out. Sasol Secunda Ladies won the game by 7 wickets. The next T20 is taking place in Standerton on the 1st of March. – TL Kleynhans

Laerskool Secunda: Elke kind is ‘n wenner

Bo: H.J Hobkirk (0/12) gedurende sy hoogspring sprong by die Hoëveldrif Wes-atletiekbyeenkoms wat op Donderdag, 13 Februarie by die Lillian Ngoyi Stadium in Secunda plaasgevind het.

Agt van Laerskool Secunda se atlete het op Saterdag, 15 Februarie aan die Govan Mbeki atletiekbyeenkoms deelgeneem en dring deur na die Gert Sibande atletiekbyeenkoms wat op 29 Februarie in Secunda plaasvind. Voor lnr: Amore Roets, Lumarie du Plessis, Leonardo Brits, Ruben Meister. Agter lnr: Henrico Ferreira, Matshidiso Makgato, Schalk Brits, Hanco van Geelen

Die afgelope naweek het Annika de Vries en Ava Shambo aan die eerste Mpumalanga kwalifiserende perdry-kompetisie vir die jaar deelgeneem. Hulle albei het Laerskool Secunda verteenwoordig en het die volgende plekke behaal:
Annika (regs) het ‘n algehele tweede plek in die afdeling vir laerskool ruiters in die eerste kompeterende vlak behaal. Sy het ook ‘n trofee vir die beste nuweling in Mpumalanga by die 2019 Nasionale Kampioenskappe ontvang.
Ava (links) het ‘n algehele vierde plek in haar afdeling behaal.

Saterdag, 15 Februarie het die Munisipale Atletiekbyeenkoms by Secunda Stadion plaasgevind. Die volgende atlete dring deur na die Gert Sibande Atletiek wat plaasvind op 29 Februarie te Secunda Stadion.

Bismarck en Josua Jansen het Saterdag, 15 Februarie 2020 aan die Mpumalanga Western Mounted Games se eerste kwalifiserende rondte te Ermelo deelgeneem. Bismarck word aangewys as die Laerskole Vlak 2 kampioen en Josua behaal ‘n derde plek vir Laerskole Vlak 0.

Hoërskool Oosterland hou Interhoër

Hoërskool Oosterland het deelgeneem aan die Interhoër by HS Rob Ferreira in Witrivier op Saterdag, 15 Februarie.

Skole wat ook deelgeneem het was: Rob Ferreira, HTS Witbank, Ermelo, Lydenburg, Ligbron, Middelburg en Heidelberg Volkskool.

Hoërskool Secunda atletiekbyeenkoms te Delmas

Hoërskool Secunda het op 7 Februarie aan die atletiekbyeenkoms te Delmas deelgeneem.


Die atlete het uitstekend gevaar en die dag was daar rekords verbeter en almal het die dag geniet.
