Akute Limfoblastiese Leukemie (ALL) is die algemeenste vorm van leukemie by kinders.
By volwassenes is Akute Limfoblastiese Leukemie redelik skaars. Die siekte kom meer gereeld voor by mense ouer as 80 jaar.

“End Unscrupulous and Unconstitutional municipal services delivery practices!” This is the call from the newly formed “Govan Mbeki Municipality – Joint Civil Movement” at a recent press conference held in eMbalenhle.
It is clear that residents can no longer tolerate the state of municipal services from Govan Mbeki Municipality. Not only does Bethal and eMzinoni suffer crippling power cuts at the moment, but eMbalenhle are also having serious electricity problems. This is not the only problems facing GMM residents across the municipality but the pollution of rivers and streams due to constant sewer spillages are posing a serious health risk to all residents, it also poses a health risk to people downstream.
Illegal dumping and poor dumping site management are causing serious headaches to the residents so to speak.
Potholes are not filled and the road infrastructure is seriously deteriorating throughout the municipality. Civil rights movements are constantly trying to help with the roads especially, and the GMM Mayor are constantly putting pressure on large organisations such as Sasol to rectify the municipal failures.
The GMM Civil Joint Movement wrote a letter of demand to the Executive Mayor, the Mayoral Committee and the entire Council of GMM demanding that Service delivery be addressed with immediate effect.
“As various Civil Society Movements, teaming up with several community activists on a platform termed: Govan Mbeki – Joint Civil Movement, are urging the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality to adhere to the clear sets of constitutional obligations with immediate effect, if not we advise you to consider one out of the two options that shall assure sustainable service delivery to the society:
1. Start immediate and inclusive works with the larger society in repositioning the municipality so as to achieve its constitutional obligation.
2. Hand over the Municipality to its original owners namely being the society at large in a form of immediate stepping down as Council of Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
Hand over the Municipality to its original owners namely being the society at large in a form of immediate stepping down as Council of Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
Failing to consider one of the two options given above within 07 (Seven) days after receipt of this letter, shall grant us the option to take up the matter to avenues of accountability which shall apply in determining an option for you to reconsider.”
The voices of residents are once again gaining momentum through organisations such as these. Promises were made by the Premier, regarding items such as the removal of the Mayor and the returning of electricity supply to Eskom, in 2018 after a disastrous protest action campaign that ended in the burning of Emba Mall.
The situation throughout the municipality have now deteriorated to a point that is far worse than those that paved the way for the 2018 protest.
The Eskom Debt alone escalated with R1,5 Billion from July 2018 to its current state. Rand water escalated to a point were GMM are now being restricted with their water supply. Fuel is not supplied due to non-payment by GMM resulting in vehicles being grounded, including refuse trucks.
Yellow fleet (construction and refuse vehicles) should have been replaced after 2018 but instead, mainly bakkies were acquired.
The GMM Joint Civil Movement made it clear that they are going to follow all routes to have the situation rectified.
Vusi adressing the press
Here is the letter as send to the Mayor:

As various Civil Society Movements, teaming up with several community activists on a platform termed: Govan Mbeki – Joint Civil Movement, are urging the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality to adhere to the clear sets of constitutional obligations with immediate effect, if not we advise you to consider one out of the two options that shall assure sustainable service delivery to the society:

The Bulletin will bring you more news as this story develops.
The police in Mpumalanga have launched an intensive manhunt for suspects who shot and killed a law enforcement officer and wounded another. The incident occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday, 25 July 2020 at Emalahleni.
So far information suggests that a group of about six suspects went to a filling station along the road to Lynville near Emalahleni, where they stormed in and robbed employees of their belongings.
They allegedly placed explosives on the counter and threatened to detonate them should the employees try to alert police.
The suspects’ plan was however interrupted by Municipal Law Enforcement Officers patrolling in the vicinity, who went to the filling station unbeknownst there was a robbery in progress.
This resulted in a crossfire between these members and the suspects which led to Warrant Officer Samuel Nkosi being fatally wounded.
Meanwhile, his 53-year-old colleague sustained gunshot injuries to his right hand.
Police and medical services were called to the scene whereupon Nkosi was certified dead whilst the surviving member was taken to hospital.
In the meantime, the Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma has called on the community to assist police with the investigation into this heinous crime.

He has also sent his deepest condolences to the Nkosi family and further wishes a speedy recovery to the injured colleague.
“We consider what has happened as an attack to the law enforcement agencies at large and the perpetrators cannot go unabated, they must be found,” said General Zuma.
Anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is urged to call Colonel One Thobejane on 0823722195 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 1011.

Gauteng and Mpumalanga Provincial Commissioners, Lieutenant Generals Elias Mawela and Mondli Zuma, have both welcomed the arrest of two Mpumalanga officers on Friday evening, 24 July 2020 by their Gauteng counterparts in Springs.
Members from Devon in Ekurhuleni District stopped a private vehicle at a static roadblock on the R29.
The team’s suspicion and subsequent search of the vehicle led to the occupants confessing that the dagga they had in their vehicle, had been taken by SAPS members in a marked Mpumalanga (Secunda) SAPS Flying Squad vehicle.
These flying squad members had allegedly also demanded and taken a sum of money.
The alleged sum of money that was taken
On realising that the said state vehicle had passed through the roadblock, the members immediately pursued the vehicle and cornered their Mpumalanga counterparts at a road intersection in Springs.
The members were found in possession of dagga and cash and arrested on the spot.
The two suspects are now facing both a criminal charge as well as departmental steps that have been sanctioned as a matter of urgency by Lieutenant General Zuma, the Provincial Commissioner of Mpumalanga.
Reacting to this arrest, Generals Mawela and Zuma commended the Gauteng officers who have demonstrated high discipline by arresting their own and aligned themselves with the SAPS Anti-Corruption Strategy that seeks to root out corruption from within the ranks.
All communities serviced by the Emzinoni Police Station are advised that this police station will be temporarily closed due to a member who tested positive for the coronavirus.

Sylvia Nyandeni (43) was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Mpumalanga on Wednesday on forty (40) counts of fraud.
It is alleged that in October 2018 Nyandeni an employee of Steve Tshwete Municipality presented herself to the complainants that she had the authority to receive monies for RDP houses.
The supposed houses were to be built at Rockdale, Middelburg and Nyandeni summoned the complainants to pay deposits before they can obtain their houses.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation urge all other victims who might have fallen victim to the scam to report the matter to the Investigating Officer Sergeant Amos Mahlangu on 071 481 3069.
Tonight, as President Ramaphosa addressed the nation, a shred of hope was left in South Africans. The President announced that schools will be closed due to the rise in infections.
He said that: “… Department of Basic Education has met with more than 60 organisations representing parents, school governing bodies, principals, educators, independent schools and civil society organisations. It has also consulted with the Council of Education Ministers, representing the provincial education departments.”
The decision was made in these meetings to ensure the health and well-being of the learners who have returned to school.
Schools will close from 27 July and will re-open on 24 August with the exception of Gr 7 and Gr 12 learners.
The Gr 12 learners and teachers will be returning on 3 August and the Gr 7 learners and teachers will be returning on 10 August.
Schools will close from 27 July and will re-open on 24 August
He continued by saying that the Minister of Basic Education will provide more information on the matter.
The National School Nutrition Programme will continue to operate to ensure the well-being of learners.
The President continued and spoke about the R 500 billion social relief and economic support package.
The R 500 billion has assisted the country in the health response to the coronavirus.
“This includes additional expenditure on personal protective equipment, community screening, increased testing capacity, additional beds in field hospitals, ventilators, medicine and staffing.”
He stressed that the fund has also assisted families and individuals in the relief of hunger and social distress.
“Over 4.4 million people have now received the special COVID-19 grant, which assists those who are unemployed and do not receive other forms of support. So far, an amount of R 2.2 billion has been paid out to these recipients.”
Furthermore, the fund has been used to support small businesses in the form of loans, grants and business restructuring.
The UIF’s special COVID-19 assistance has paid out R 34 billion, helping over seven-and-a-half million workers.
The social relief and economic support package
“The rules of the scheme have been adjusted to expand the eligibility criteria and increase uptake, making it easier for businesses to access finance during this period,” said the President.
He continued: “Over R 70 billion in tax relief has also been provided to companies.”
During this time, corruption allegations have been flying around. The President spoke about the preventative measure that have been put in place to ensure that corruption comes to an end.
The President signed a proclamation authorising the Special Investigating Unit to investigate any such allegations and to ensure that he receives reports every 6 weeks.

“The Auditor-General has also adopted special measures to safeguard funds committed to the fight against COVID-19. Special audits have been undertaken to detect and prevent misuse of these funds and to identify risks in the system.
In addition to all these measures we have established a collaborative and coordinating centre to strengthen the collective efforts among law enforcement agencies so as to prevent, detect, investigate and prosecute COVID-related corruption.
This centre brings together nine state institutions. These are the Financial Intelligence Centre, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate, the National Prosecuting Authority, the Hawks, Crime Intelligence and the SAPS Detective Service, the South African Revenue Service, the Special Investigating Unit and the State Security Agency.”
Fighting corruption
This was decided as there are at least 36 cases open and being investigated at the moment.
Time will only tell what the future holds for South Africa and its citizens.
“Ag, ou Milo, dis nou vir jou bitter sleg, jong” was my antwoord.
The relevance of the beautiful. The relevance of the beautiful, inderdaad.

The relevance of the beautiful
Tannie Lena se woorde was: “Moenie terugkyk nie, my kind, moet nooit terugkyk nie.
Moenie terugkyk nie, my kind, moet nooit terugkyk nie.
Ek moes daardie oggend 07:30 by staatskliniek wees vir bloed trek.

Ons het spoedig ‘n esprit-de-corps ontwikkel, a feeling of pride and mutual loyalty shared by the members of a group, waar ek heelwat kennis opgedoen het.
Ek was skreeusnaaks net voor my hartomleiding.
Mag wees. Of dalk nie. Laasgenoemde het summier my gemoed verlig.
Tanya Visser is mostly known in town from the different restaurants she used to be Front of House Manager. Most of the people in the area would remember her from other food outlets but now she flabbergasts your taste buds with something new.
Since Tanya was a little girl, she loved cooking and was always in the kitchen with her mother. She kept an eye on her mother and constantly learnt and tried something new when she could find the chance.
Tanya Visser in her kitchen where she feels most at home
After school she started to work at Graceland as a chef. She moved from Graceland to Dros, Boesies, Crawdaddy’s and Stoepstories into the position of Front of House Manager but her passion has always been food.
Tanya was the ghost running around in restaurants. Sometimes you will see her but she never stopped working, always ensuring customers are happy and enjoying their time out.
She has loved cooking channels since she could remember and was always in the kitchen trying something new and ensured that her family tasted her delicious concoctions for approval or a try again.
She smiled shyly and said: “The Guinea Pigs were always my family with all my cooking experiments. That’s how I figured out what worked and what didn’t work.”
She has been wanting to open her own place since she finished school and during lockdown, she saw an opportunity.
TAN’Z was born!
She decided on: “The stuff your face place!” as a slogan and it definitely lives up to the slogan.
In the beginning business was slow but after a while it picked up. With the business that started booming and bigger orders started to come in from businesses, she realised that she could employ people and help them during a challenging time too.
Before she decided on her menu, Tanya did research to ensure that her place will be unique and also not a copy and a paste of something everyone can order from anywhere.
She is currently producing dishes that no one else has on their menu. Her Eisbein burger with kaiings is one of a kind, a best seller and a definite must try.
The Eisbein Burger with Kaiings, a definit must try
All the dishes on the menu can be explained as soul food. These dishes warm you up and knocks you for a six once you take a bite.
She also makes her own homemade mustard sauce that is a huge hit with her customers.
“Now that I have taken this opportunity to show the people what my talent is and what food I can put on the plate, I know I can only grow and learn from here!”
Tanya loves experimenting with different types of meats.
“The amount of dishes that can be cooked with meat is endless and different meats are prepared in different ways,” Tanya explained.
When asked if there are anything she does not like to work with, Tanya laughed and said:
“Seafood. Seafood is so easy to cook with but can be extremely dangerous. Your workstations have to be set up differently. To have seafood on your menu you have to ensure that there is a specific workstation and that workstation does not mix with the other workstations because people might be allergic to seafood.”
Currently TAN’Z has 10 dishes on the menu but every week she tries to add something new.
“Trial and error,” she said confidently.
She is currently working from home but her approach to hygiene is phenomenal. She is extremely strict when it comes to cleaning and hygiene.
Before starting anything in the kitchen, the kitchen is cleaned and sanitised (even though it was done the day before when the kitchen closed).
During the preparation and cooking, the kitchen is always being cleaned with the help from Ms Bibi Mthimunye.
Tanya and Bibi Mthimunye
After cooking and packing the food for delivery, the kitchen is sanitised again.
She does not take any chances and is very particular about how she runs her kitchen. She has colour coded cutting boards for each different food type to ensure zero contamination.
Each order is also packed with extreme love, care and pride.
The delivery car is also sanitised each and every time.
What people do not know about Tanya is that she is an extremely vibrant person with a heart of gold.
It is during a pandemic like this that a young, strong woman inspires others to follow their dreams and not to be scared to go out there and do what they want to do.
Tanya’s attitude is truly inspirational, her never give up outlook on life and never stop fighting for your dreams spirit never ceases to amaze those around her.
