Murder of SAPS member, six (6) remanded in custody

SIX ACCUSED REMANDED IN CUSTODY FOR MURDER OF POLICE OFFICER , ATTEMPTED MURDER AND ARMED ROBBERY

MPUMALANGA – Fraser Sithole(32) Thokozani Hadebe (27), Bheki Maluka ,(35) Remember Lixoto.(35),Thabiso Ntsane(36) and Nkosinathi Shabangu,(38) appeared before the Kabokweni Magistrate on Monday, 28 March 2022 after they were arrested by Kabokweni SAPS and Crime Intelligence for murder of police officer, attempted murder, armed Robbery, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, Illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunition and conspiracy to commit crime.

It is reported that on  Friday, 25 March 2022 at about 11:15  two members from Nelspruit Crime Intelligence and four  members of Kabokweni VISPOL reacted to an information about  ten (10) suspects gathered at Gutswa guest house and were planning to commit Cash In transit at Kabokweni complex.

On arrival of the police at Gutswa guest house, suspects started shooting at them and they retaliated whereby Sgt Simba was shot on the stomach and passed away on the way to the hospital. Six suspects were arrested

During the arrest the following firearms were recovered

1 AK 47, 1× Ruger Rifle, 1× hunting rifle,10× 9mm pistols.

The following vehicles were found at the quest house and it is suspected that they might be belonging to the suspects and investigation is conducted

  • a maroon VW Golf with Reg no HKY185MP
  • a metalic chev Cruz with Reg no KML689MP
  • a white Toyota Corolla Reg no DMC981MP

– a white polo Reg no KLF064MP 

The five suspects appeared in Kabokweni Magistrate Court while the sixth appeared in absentia . The case is postponed to 6 April 2022 for legal representatives. Investigation continues.
