Metering roll-out underway in Bethal Town
Empower Machite, in collaboration with the Govan Mbeki Municipality, has begun the installation of split pre-payment meters in all Bethal town households. To date, the successful metering roll-out has resulted in the completion of 762 households in Bethal and 1138 households in Emzinoni, including Ext 13, Ext 23, and 74 steel boxes in Ext 4 where the roll-out is currently underway.
The main goal of the metering conversion is to improve customer service by ensuring supply reliability and giving customers the ability to control and manage their own consumption.

The project is expected to increase electricity revenue while decreasing non-technical losses due to electricity theft in the short term. It will also help with the area’s current load reduction restrictions.
Customers in Bethal town are kindly requested to please allow Empower Machite technicians access to conduct an audit and proceed with the metering conversion, which is expected to be completed in the next four weeks and will take place from Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:30.
Customers who will be away from home during this period should please contact the Empower Machite office at 087 550 0765 to schedule an appointment.
