The generosity of the Secunda community is making a difference in the lives of approximately 200 children at the SAVF orphanage in Belfast, following a four-month donation drive led by the Tree Seeds Foundation and Projek Winterhoop.
The initiative focused on collecting linen, toiletries and toys for the children, with donations from local churches, businesses and individuals now being prepared for delivery to the orphanage.
Among the contributions were brand-new sheets, pillows and duvets, which will be distributed with the assistance of SAVF Secunda to help meet the children’s needs.
According to the Tree Seeds Foundation, the original plan was to relocate 100 of the children to the Adullam facility near Secunda. However, legal complications and logistical challenges made this arrangement impossible.

Despite this setback, the foundation remains committed to supporting the children and plans to become involved in the orphanage’s ongoing needs.
The donation drive received support from Lighthouse, Kruik, NGK Oos, NG Rondekerk, Sabers, House of Mercy, Care for Education, SAVF Secunda, Smith Trucks, TTG Auctions and Revaro Secunda.
The foundation expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed towards the initiative, highlighting the role of community partnerships in providing assistance to vulnerable children.
Through the collective efforts of churches, businesses and individuals, the project demonstrates how local communities can come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need support.
The Tree Seeds Foundation continues to live by its message: “Planting small seeds to make a big difference!”
