FOUR WOMEN DUE TO APPEAR BEFORE COURT FOR POSSESSION OF STOLEN GOODS
NELSPRUIT – Four women, aged between 40 and 60 are due to appear before the Mkhuhlu Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 May 2021, on allegations of found being in possession of suspected stolen goods from a robbery, which was carried out by two suspects on the R40 road at Marite near Hazyview on Friday, 14 May 2021.
According to information reported, a truck driver and his colleague were transporting various items, including cleaning materials, clothing, and electric equipment to an estimated value of about R500 000, to be delivered in the area of Bushbuckridge. They were forced to stop their truck after being forced to do so by two armed men who blocked them at Marite. The suspects then pointed them with firearms, hijacked the truck, and instructed the driver to detour to a secluded area.

Whilst on the way, they (suspects) summoned a certain bakkie so that it could be used in their mission as a getaway vehicle and carry the goods as well. The victims were then robbed of all the truck items and were further told to drive back with an empty truck. The incident was then reported to the police and an investigation immediately ensued.
Whilst probing, police received information from members of the public about suspicious criminal activities where some items were being sold to residents. They then followed the information which led them to the pinning down of the four suspects who were found in possession of items which police believe were stolen earlier from the delivery truck.
Meanwhile police are still searching for suspects who were involved in the robbery of the items where members of the public are requested to contact Detective Lieutenant Colonel Duduzile Shabangu at 0824692569 or Detective Warrant Officer Alfred Monareng at 0798549465 with information that can assist in apprehending the suspects.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Major General Thulani Phahla, has urged members of the public to desist from buying stolen goods as they will be acting in cahoots with those who commit a crime.
