STANDERTON POLICE ARE HARD AT WORK IN MAKING SURE THE AREA IS DRUG-FREE

Nelspruit: 19 July 2023 – A 19-year-old male suspect has been arrested today, Wednesday 19 July 2023 for alleged dealing in drugs in Standerton.

According to information around 10h30 am members from Standerton K9 Unit received information about a suspect who was allegedly dealing in drugs.

Police responded swiftly to the information. Upon arrival, police searched the suspect as well as at his house.

A total of 34 full tablets of suspected Mandrax, weighing about 59 grams, 32 sachets of suspected Crystal Meth, weighing about 31 grams, 22 Pokes of dagga and loose dagga weighing about 2155 grams as well as R350 were recovered in the premises. The total street value of the suspected drugs recovered is about R20 000.

The man was immediately arrested and charged for dealing in drugs and is expected to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday 20 July 2023 facing the said charges.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrest and appreciated the excellent job from both the police and the whistleblower. The General further reiterated on the stunt by the Police regarding drug peddling.

“When it comes to drug trafficking, Police will never tolerate such conduct which creates a lot of challenges and has got a serious negative influence on crime. We have noted with much concern that often those that abuse drugs are somehow involved in the commission of crimes such as theft and housebreaking. By arresting alleged drug peddlers, we believe that we will be addressing the root cause” said the General.
