SAPS member’s life cut short by criminals

Nelspruit: 05 October 2022 – The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned the brutal murder of a 57-year-old police Warrant Officer.

Warrant Officer Siyaphi Jan Msiza who was stationed at Kwamhlanga Police was attacked by suspects on Tuesday, 04 October 2022.

According to information, the member is said to have visited his friend at Msholozi Village in Kwamhlanga. At about 20h15 it is said that he called it a day and decided to go home. His friends reportedly accompanied him. After they all thought he was safe, his friends went back however the friends responded quickly after they heard him calling for help. They were shocked to find him with two stab wounds on his chest. It is further alleged that he informed his friends that he was attacked by two guys who stabbed him.

Sadly on their arrival at the hospital, it was too late as their friend was certified dead by medical staff.

The fallen man in blue has served the SAPS for 32 years. No arrest has been made so far and the police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the  Branch Commander, Detective Colonel Alex Mahlahlane on 0823189865. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has further sent condolences to the family of the slain member as well as his friends. “Attacking police officials is a direct attack on the state and a team consisting of investigators will probe and ensure that the perpetrators are soon brought to book,” said the General.
