ANC Councillor was nearly killed when shots were fired at him tonight.
Cllr Simphiwe Sindelo, Ward 4 Councillor was ambushed and shot at his home in eMbalenhle, Ext 25 at around 20H00 tonight.
The councillor had just parked his vehicle at home when the perpetrators started firing shots at him.
He then fled into the house and the perpetrators continued firing shots at the house and the door.
When they attempted to open the door, Cllr Simphiwe Sindelo fought back and fired back.
A total of eight cartridges were found at the side of the car and investigators are searching for the ones at the side of the house and the door.

One (1) of the suspects fled into the bushes.
At the time of the incident, Cllr Sindelo’s family including an infant were in the house.
Forensic Investigators are currently at the scene and fortunately, there are no casualties nor any injuries.
Cllr Sibusiso Mazibuko (ward 1) and Cllr Sydney Sihlalo (ward 12) also responded swiftly and are at the Sindelo home with the family.

The police are still currently at the scene because the safety of the councillor is compromised until placed at a place of safety.
