MEDICLINIC RECOGNISES NURSES ON INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

Each year, Mediclinic takes a special day out to recognise their nurses and their amazing contribution to their community. While they acknowledge that 2021 has been a challenging year for all healthcare workers around the world, they are excited to take this opportunity to shine the light on the nursing teams within our hospitals. 

“This year, as we celebrate International Nurses’ Day on 12 May 2021, we recognise each nurse who has chosen a career of caring for others,” said Sphiwe Mahlalela Patient Experience Manager: Mediclinic Highveld, “Each year, staff within each Mediclinic locality selects a Nursing Excellence Award winner, nominated by their peers in recognition for the hard work they invest in caring for patients.”

“At Mediclinic Highveld, we acknowledge Professional Nurse – Solomon Mahlangu as the annual Nursing Excellence Award recipient. He receives this symbol of appreciation and recognition for the care he delivers to his patients and supports his colleagues,” Sphiwe continued, “We recognise that behind each excellent nurse, is a team of great nurses, making the nomination by those around him even more significant.”

Professional Nurse – Solomon Mahlangu

The 2021 recipient, Solomon (Solly), has been with Mediclinic for 8 years and works in the Neonatal/Critical Care unit. (Solly is a person that you can always count on. He is eager to learn and impresses people around him with his knowledge and effectiveness. He is performance driven and manages challenges on the floor. He supports his fellow colleagues every day. He acts as a good example of the Mediclinic culture.

Solly is a BIG man with a BIG heart for he’s SMALL patients. The care, commitment, compassion and patience he shows towards his patients is commendable. The neonatal unit (babies) is in good hands when he’s on duty. He puts everything in to ensure his little patients are taken good care of. The families (parents) are comforted by the fact that they can leave their little ones in the hands of a competent and experienced nurse. Keep up the excellent work.
