The Highveld Sailing Club (HSC) is an active sailing club with their base at Trichardtsfontein dam.
They boast that they have the cleanest water in all South Africa and they most probably do. A last fun sail event for 2019 was held on Saturday, 21 December and HSC tried to get as many as possible boats on the water. It was quite a spectacle with the colourful sails filling the waters.
The event was put on hold for a few minutes due to thunder, but the bad weather subsided and made for good sailing.
Access to the grounds is well controlled and members can practice their hobby in safety.
Club Spokesperson, Pieter Blaauw spoke to The Bulletin: “We invite every one that is interested in sailing to contact us. It is a sport which the whole family can participate in.”
“We would like to get the youth more involved in the sport,” Pieter said: “we do have some young people in our club but I believe that more young people can enjoy the sport.”
