    “Two Comma Four” Information

The fitness test is not exclusive to the SANDF but forms an important function of many defence forces around the world.

Last week we published particulars and facts regarding the Military Veterans Day soon to be held at Lake Umuzi.
An intrinsically component of this day is, to all veterans, the notorious “Two Comma Four” exercise.
The fitness test is not exclusive to the SANDF but forms an important function of many defence forces around the world.
Herewith are some particular words that are associated with this day and the exercise.
    · Two comma Four: 2 400 meters running with full kit and rifle within 12 minutes.
    · Kettie Skiet: Shooting with a handheld Catapult to a target.
    · Training Grenade: Same size and weight to the real grenade for training.
    · Varkpan: Stainless steel tray with divisions for dishing up food.
    · Full Kit: Riffle, complete webbing, Steel helmet with insert.
The “two comma four” to be held at Lake Umuzi on 24 September, will have some necessary modification to the historical exercise that was part and parcel of the fitness testing of soldiers.
The today participant seldom runs the “two comma four” as prescribed, as in many cases it will be a veteran and therefore do possess a riffle and or webbing. His or her physical condition is such that the 2 400m is undertaken by walking the distance with family, friends and the like.
The Bulletin will publish more information with regards to this event and the taking part of your teams in the “Kettie Skiet and Training Grenade Throwing” competition. – Aart Reedijk
