Hijackings on R29 between Kinross and Leslie

The assailants used the same method as previous times and dropped the driver of the vehicle off in Nigel.

There has been an increase in hijackings during the past few months. Since January there have been 12 hijackings, all with the same modus operandi. These hijackings happen at the four way stop in Kinross and the street behind the police station. The group of four assailants work together as follows: two of them will hitch hike and as soon as they are picked up, the driver of the vehicle will be threatened with a firearm. The other two assailants will get in the vehicle and tie the occupant/s of the vehicle up with their own shoelaces or belt. The assailants would drop the victim/s off between Nigel and Springs. Monday, 20 May, at approximately 15H30 the 12th hijacking took place. The assailants used the same method as previous times and dropped the driver of the vehicle off in Nigel. Be careful when driving in this area.
