Alleged drug dealer remanded in custody

The case against Tchombai has been postponed to 7 March for a formal bail application.

An alleged drug dealer, Joseph Tchombai (31), has been remanded in custody following his brief appearance at the Kriel Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday charged for dealing in drugs after he was arrested on the same day.
The suspect was apprehended by members of the Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) in a joint intelligent driven operation with Rapid Rail Police in the Central Business District of Kriel in Mpumalanga after he was found in possession of small quantities of narcotics.
Tchombai was then escorted to his residence nearby where a further search uncovered additional drugs which included cocaine and crystal meth with the estimated street value of R76 000.00. The case against Tchombai has been postponed to 7 March for a formal bail application.
The Provincial Head of The Hawks in Mpumalanga, Major General Zodwa Mokoena, has applauded the team for the arrest and vowed that the Hawks will continue to raid the streets to ensure that the town is cleared of illegal drugs.
