On Saturday, 26 January, Mbizana Equestrian Centre hosted a training jumping show. Approximately twenty riders competed in different classes. There were ten classes to compete in from Pole on the Ground (Beginners’ Class) to Class 10 which was 1 metre. Before starting the show, everyone was worried about the threatening rain. Luckily that did not deter the riders nor their steeds and the show continued with clear skies and big smiles. Class 1 – 5 had an accumulator. An accumulator consists of six jumps and the course has to be completed without knocking any poles down. After completing a clear round, the riders contend in a jump off. The rider that wins the jump off does this by riding the fastest time. This is better known as a time trial. The competition rounds were Classes 6 – 10. These consisted of ten 10 jumps and also had an accumulator and a jump off. The day was a huge success and everyone enjoyed it tremendously! – Ané Prinsloo
