    1st SACCS Chinese 8 Ball Championships

    During the past December holiday break, Nathan Ruping finished as runner up at the first SACCS Chinese 8 Ball Championships held at Graceland Casino. Hendry Erasmus, Tournament Director, said that sixteen men’s and eight women’s teams competed in this event.
    Nathan Rupping played in his first major event since he took a break from the game in 2013.
    After five years Nathan Ruping ensured that Mpumalanga “Pumas” are under the top Cue Sport Provinces in South Africa.
    The Singles results: Champion was Vincent Halliday (Gauteng). Runner-up: Nathan Rupping (Mpumalanga) and Faris Khan (Western Cape).
    In the Team event, Mpumalanga stood strong and finished sharing the first place. Due to frame count, they finished third. The top four teams advanced to the Knockout stages where Mpumalanga finished in the fourth place. The Mpumalanga first team was represented by Jacobus Le Roux, Thabo Taljaard and Hendry Erasmus.
    The following players from Mpumalanga were selected for the Protea squad who will participate in an International event later in 2019: Darren Barnard, Thabo Taljaard, Joseph Mtsweni and Jacobus Le Roux.
    Seven Mpumalanga players finished in the Top 20 Rankings: Darren Barnard, Jacobus Le Roux, Joseph Mtsweni, Thabo Taljaard, Nathan Rupping Hendry Erasmus and Wilfred Van Niekerk.
