    Annual Graceland Open Golf Championship

The Graceland Champion for 2018 is Ivan Maré from Walker Park club with 142 Gross.

The annual Graceland Open golf championships were held on Sunday 5 November. The Open is a competition that must be held every year so that golfers can accrue points towards their ranking for qualifying for provincial team selection. Players are urged to play as many club open competitions to accumulate as many points as possible.
Forty two players entered for the competition from clubs as far away as Sabie, Volksrust and Witbank.
Twenty two players from neighbouring clubs entered for the competition and twenty players of Graceland.
The course was in beautiful condition with greens playing soft but as fast as 10 on the stint meter. The rough was very short and thus very forgiving. The wind, as always, was again a factor and was evident in some of the scores. The competition was played in the medal format over two rounds and each hole was played until the ball was in the cup.
Tee-off started at 07:00 on both the first and tenth tee. This meant that the course was closed for social golf until after the competition was over. Cool weather, blue skies with a fresh wind saw players with all sorts of warm clothing arriving at the course. Lots of prizes were up for grabs for best gross and nett scores for the day. A halfway meal was included in the playing fee.
The results saw neighbouring club, Walker Park, walking away with most of the honours:
The Graceland Champion for 2018 is Ivan Maré from Walker Park club with 142 Gross.
Second was Vian Kruger from Walker Park.
Third was Gerry Daniel from Walker Park.
Best nett for the day was Pheello Manka from Standerton.
Second was David Otto from Walker Park.
Best morning field was Alex Pieterse from Volksrust.
Second was Chris Mahlangu from Graceland.
Best afternoon field was Francois Nel from Kranspoort.
Second was Senso Shabalala from Graceland.
