The workshop, held on Thursday 19 April, touched on strategies that seek to improve a business’s online presence, as well as increase engagement with one’s audience, with particular focus on Facebook as a platform.

The online sphere is no longer just about socialising and staying in touch with old friends.
Social media has become a strong marketing tool for businesses and is increasingly important in staying in touch with one’s audience. Taking this into consideration, business women of the TEKS area gathered at a digital marketing workshop hosted by the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW), with guest speaker Henriette Brand, a digital marketing specialist.
The workshop, held on Thursday 19 April, touched on strategies that seek to improve a business’s online presence, as well as increase engagement with one’s audience, with particular focus on Facebook as a platform.
Shimona Mariah, an organiser of the event, called it “overall well-attended”.
“We are definitely going to have a follow-up,” she said. “We hope to include Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn next time.”
The follow-up workshop will be a full day event, and attendees expressed immense interest at the idea, set to be held in May.
