Tankiso Gerald Radebe (28), a former Standard Bank employee was sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment for fraud.
Radebe worked in Evander and transferred money from a client’s account to a fraudulent account in August last year.
A few days after the transfer, R40 000 was transferred into Radebe’s account and a case was opened at the Mpumalanga DPCI (Hawks).
During the investigation, the Hawks discovered that R70 000 was also involved in this case.
“There is no court which can sentence an accused without evidence, this was demonstrated when W/O Sipho Patrick Nyathikazi pursued the case,” said the Mpumalanga DPCI provincial head, Maj.-Gen. Mokoena, Mpumalanga DPCI Provincial Head.
He further treasured the judiciary for their constant resolve by eliminating offenders from the community to the place where they will learn a lesson.
