Don’t become a victim to online scams

Secunda Police receive almost weekly complaints from local Internet users who have been scammed.
Capt Bettinah Zondo, spokesperson for the Secunda Police Station, warned the community to be aware when buying or selling goods online.
“You must obtain the full details about the person you are dealing with and you must also confirm those details.
“Also, ensure that you have the full detail and description of the item you are buying or selling,” she said.
Zondo advised online users to insist on physically seeing the item before purchase.
“It is best to have a direct exchange: the money for the item.”
