The Highveld Motor Club in Witbank hosted a sprint fun day the weekend.
The sprint was held in the Bronkhorstspruit area on a farm. The area consisted mostly between well planted potato fields and the day started with a beautiful sunrise and competitors arrived early to start the day.
- Drivers briefing was 10:30
- Recce Run was 10:45
- Start of sprint was 11:00
- Stage length was 8km
- 3 runs with the quickest of the day your winning time.
Total entries were 18 cars which brought some old and new faces together. The oldest competitor was 74 in an ex works Conquest!
Included in the line-up were 4 well prepped Escorts, a Nissan Skyline and a Datsun GX. The day consisted out of 6 classes: A – Turbo 4×4 class, B – 2001cc to 3000cc, C – 1601xx to 2000cc, D – 0 – 1600cc with a bike and quad class.
Each class saw the fastest driver taking the trophy.
Winners in classes were as follows: A – Marco Ferreira – Subaru; B – Kobus Groenewald – BMW; C – AC Potgieter – Polo; D – Jan Booysen – Ford Escort and Quad – Richard Le Roux – Honda
Overall fastest time of the day was AC Potgieter in his Polo.
