Saturday, 9 February, SADFA’s (South African Defence Force Association) Sector 1 Cosmos held their second project “Kolgans” for 2019 at the Kruik Café in Secunda. Sector 1 Cosmos decided to change the format of the normal get together and enjoy the monthly breakfast with your veteran brethren and their families for the rest of 2019, this variation was introduced during this breakfast with great success. They invited Captain Lizzie Koekemoer, the Commander of the FCS (Family Violence and Child Protection Sexual Offences Unit) to inform the attendees on the dire situation with regards to these offences in the TEKSA (Trichardt, Evander, Kinross and Secunda) area. Captain Lizzie related to several incidents that occurred during the last few months, not at a distance from us but as the saying goes “on our doorstep”. One of those was the case of the alleged serial murder, kidnapper and rapist, which was reported in the Bulletin of 18 January 2019. The Bulletin will publish Captain Lizzie’s presentation in the next issue of the newspaper. – Aart Reedijk
