The weekend abuzz with cricket

The past weekend saw a number of cricket games played.
The Mpumalanga Women’s 1st team played against KZN Inland Women’s 1st at Sasol Club grounds. Mpumalanga batted first and amassed a score of 223 all out in the 39th over with a run rate of 5.74 runs per over. The girls from KZN could only muster up 66 runs before they were all out in the 19th over. Their run rate was 3.36 runs per over. The Mpumalanga Women’s 1st team won by 157 runs.
Gert Sibande District team beat Ehlanzeni (lowveld) by 156 runs and claimed the 2018 Mpumalanga Titans President’s Cup.Gert Sibande batted first and scored 303/7 in the allotted 40 overs. Estian Cilliers scored 98 from 48 balls and Franscois Kroucamp scored 62 runs. Gert Sibande restricted Ehlanzeni to 151/all out. Ruhan Delport took 5 wickets for only 33 runs in 7 overs. Gert Sibande played against Nkangala district earlier this month. Gert Sibande won by 57 runs. George Louw made 96 and Siya Mahima 78 runs. Estian Cilliers contributed a quick 52 runs. Gert Sibande scored 324 and restricted Nkangala to 257 runs.
Saturday’s match between the two Sasol Club sides were played at Sasol Club grounds. Sasol CC 2 Bulldogs beat Sasol CC 1 Secunda by 47 runs. Sasol Bulldogs scored 159 in 47.2 overs with a run rate of 3.36 runs per over. Sasol CC1 replied with 112 runs in 33.4 overs at a rate of 3.33 runs per over.
Sasol Griffons won against Emba 2 on Run Rate.
