Slingervel Arms and Ammunition hosted a fundraising range shootout on Saturday to assist Johan Perg Pretorius (31) and his family.
He was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16. After a year of treatment he went into remission but in 2016 the cancer returned once again.
Together with the support of his wife, Marlene, and family, Perg fought back and for the last two years he has been in and out of hospital and the medical bills just kept on piling up.
Perg was admitted into Sunninghill Hospital on 4 September 2018 for an emergency operation and has been fighting for his life ever since.
This special range shooting day, “Shooting for Johan”, was established specifically to assist Perg and his family to lessen the burden of their financial worries.
There were several different categories of shooting and some of the rules included:
• Any centre fire calibre from 177 BEE to .375 H and H.
• Any barrel length, any barrel thickness, any scope.
• A silencer can be used, 3 minute limit per relay etc.
Slingervel Arms and Ammunition sponsored some impressive prizes in the form of vouchers to the winners of the different categories.
A heartfelt thank you to the management of Slingervel for hosting this very eloquent event assisting Perg and his family in their time of need and bringing the community together for such a great cause.
