Violent protests erupted on Sunday night in Lebohang.
Protestors pelted cars with rocks and closed off the R50 between the N17 and Leandra town.
A number of tyres were set alight creating an eerie sight, changing the area into what resembles a mini war zone.
There was a large police presence and protestors were dispersed a number of times just to reappear elsewhere.
Rubber bullets were used as protestors scattered in every direction. SAPS vehicles would follow a short distance to make sure that the protestors dispersed.
The reason for the protests is stated as protests against poor service delivery as well as against Eskom for cutting power. Leandra is supplied by Eskom directly and is not affected by the Secunda cut-offs that are threatening Secunda and Embalenhle.
Protests still raged on at 06H00 on Monday morning.
The Bulletin reported on possible protest action in Embalenhle from 04H00 Monday but by sunrise, there were no reports of any protests in Emba.
