Jason Theron wins SA Pool Champs

The South African Pool Championship took place in the Basement Theatre in Secunda from 7 to 9 April.
According to Hendry Erasmus, one of the organisers of the event, it was the largest 8, 9 and 10 ball pool event in South Africa.
Mpumalanga Cue Sport and SACC (South African Confederation of Cue Sport) hosted the event and businessman, Johan Rosslee, sponsored the venue and prize money.
Players came from the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, the Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga to take part in the championship.
Some players, including Jason Theron, Sandile Madlala and Anton Klanfar, played for the first time in years.
The competition was tough as eight former SA champs took part in different sections.
“Mpumalanga had hope on Thabo Taljaard and Jacobus le Roux to bring medals home,” said Hendry.
“Both Taljaard and Le Roux walked away with bronze medals.”
Jason Theron from KwaZulu Natal won the 8 -ball section and the 9-ball section.
Sandile Mandala, also from KwaZulu Natal finished second in the 8-ball section and Jeremiah Naidoo, also from KwaZulu Natal finished third in the 8-ball section.
Naidoo finished second in the 9-ball section and Thabo Taljaard, from Mpumalanga, finished third in the 9-ball section.
Charl Jonck from Eastern Cape won the 10-ball section while Theron finished second and Jacobus le Roux, also from Mpumalanga, finished third.
Theron will represent South Africa later this year in the World 9 Ball Championships in Qatar. He will also represent South Africa in the World 8 Ball Championships in China.
