Pastor Beauty Tshabalala reaches out to women in prison and has been involved at Bethal Prison for 18 years.
Before she embarked on this full-time prison ministry, she visited female prisoners in her free time and encouraged them.
She believes the Lord called her to prison ministry when He gave her Isaiah 61:1 that reads: “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;’
“Every time I prayed or read my Bible, I just received Isaiah 61 and I meditated on this Scripture and saw visions of the prison,” said Beauty.
“I couldn’t rest until I saw myself doing it in real life.
“I have to preach the good news to the poor and people in prison are poor, because they don’t have Christ.”
It was not easy to go back to prison as Beauty experienced spiritual attacks on her life and was hesitant to go back, but then she would dream about the prisoners who called her to go back and her passion would return.
Beauty helped the prisoners to enrol in Bible School and some of them already finished their first year of Bible School and graduated.
She tries to help the prisoners find jobs when they are released from prison.
Her ministry, God’s Fire Ministries, moved to a new premise four months ago where Beauty also takes homeless people in and give them a place to live.
However, they must abide by strict rules and must cook and work in the garden and also attend church services.
Beauty also visits hospitals often and serve people there.
“People in hospitals are heartbroken and also need Christ.”
Beauty was ordained as a pastor in 2007 and is currently busy with her Honours degree.
She is married and has three children aged 18, 15 and seven.
Her ministry started out with street revivals and visiting shacks where she prayed for the people and told them about Christ.
Beauty has big plans for her prison ministry and the church building.
