A robber died in an attempted ATM bombing at eMbalenhle Mall on Wednesday, 1 February.

A robber was shot dead during an attempted ATM bombing at eMbalenhle Mall on Wednesday, 1 February.
Nearly 100 senior citizens were in the area when robbbers tried to blow up the ATM which serves as a social grant paypoint.
According to Captain Mangondzweni Nkosi of eMbalenhle Police, it is alleged that the group of robbers, armed with rifles, stormed the area.
A security guard and one of the robbers became involved in a struggle.
During the process, the security guards and the robbers exchanged gun fire and one of the robbers was shot.
A detonator was found already fitted in one of the teller machines.
According to Captain Nkosi, the robbers escaped after seeing the guards were equal to the task and the police were already alerted.
They fled in three vehicles, two white Mercedes Benz and a silver grey Audi.
