Most of the local schools in our readership area can boast a past rate higher than the provincial matric pass rate for 2016 of 81,3%.
The Highveld Muslim School in Kinross achieved a 100% pass rate with all five their matriculants successfully completing the final exams.
Hoërskool Secunda excelled with a pass rate of more than 99% with only one pupil failing the final exams.
Secunda was highlighted as one of the top performing schools in Mpumalanga with five of their matriculants being among the top achievers in the province.
They are Carmen Neethling, Heloïze Hattingh, Christiaan Liebenberg, Melandè Stadler and Alexandra Wuzyk.
Melandè was also appointed as Mpumalanga’s top achiever in English among 41 000 pupils.
Secunda is also part of the Math Club 50 elite group.
Heloïze Hattingh, Christiaan Liebenberg, Carmen Neethling, Franli van Tiddens and Franco van Tonder each obtained 8 distinctions.
Melandè Stadler, Alexandra Wuzyk and Asheel Bhudaram each obtained 7 distinctions and Enèz Nobrega achieved 6 A’s.
Christoffel Gouws, Marnique Hugo, Brittney Jones and Carla Mathee each obtained five distinctions and Heinrich Louwrens, Muhammed Rasool and Benno Spangenberg obtained four distinctions respectively.
Hoërskool Hoogenhout in Bethal boasts with a pass rate of 97,8%. Bhavik Bhaga is the top achiever with 7 distinctions.
He is 14th on the province’s top achiever list.
Albertus Richter obtained 6 distinctions and Marteli Norden 5.
The pupils with four distinctions are Anzelle Ehlers, Marilet Grobler, Izanhri Möller, Hendrik Susan, Charné Potgieter, Madeleine Stemmet and Marie van der Vyver.
Highveld Park High School got a matric pass rate of 96,7% and 28 distinctions in total.
The overall average increased with 13% since 2015.
Lungelo Khuzwayo is their star achiever with four distinctions.
Nokwazi Hlatshwayo obtained 3 distinctions.
Kriel High School is extremely proud of their Grade 12 results, says their principal Pottie Potgieter.
The pass percentage is 94%.
The school’s top achievers are Rachael Mashayamombe with and Lebogang Mmola with three distinctions each.
Hoërskool Oosterland showed a 90% pass rate.
The top achievers are Sumari Taljaard with 6 distinctions, Jacolene Jonker (head girl) and Marelize Kruger obtained 4 distinctions each, and Dihan Ferreira (deputy head boy) obtained 3 distinctions.
Evander High School reached a matric pass rate of 86,9%.
Bronwyn Geel obtained four distinctions and Simone Ulbricht obtained three distinctions last year.
