CIT robbers cornered in Witbank


Armed robbers pulled off a cash in transit heist near the four way crossing between Secunda, Matla, Kinross and Kriel earlier today (7 December 2016).
According to reports not yet confirmed by the police, the cops cornered  the robbers at a block of flats in eMalahleni tonight.
It is not yet clear if the suspects have been apprehended.
The suspected robbers were able to ambush the cash in transit armoured vehicle in the late afternoon.
A guard was shot.
According to the spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Capt Dineo Sekgotodi the robbers managed to flee with an undisclosed amount of money.
They fled the crime scene in a Volkswagen Golf and a white BMW X5.
The Golf was later dumped in the undercover parking area at the Witbank Mall.
Here the robbers allegedly hi-jacked an employee of Incredible Connection and took off in his car.
Reports that one of the robbers has also been wounded, is still unconfirmed.
The police are unable disclose information at present about the scene at the apartment block in eMalahleni as this scene has not yet been cleared.

The robbers fled the crime scene in this white Golf and later abandoned it in the undercover parking at the Witank Mall. They hi-jacked a motorist and took off in the stolen vehicle.
