Local Aquathon sets new records

Secunda has set two new records on Saturday, 12 November by hosting the biggest event reported to date of the Worldwide Aquathon that took place at the same local time in 76 countries on 12 November.
According to Theresa Gray, organiser and aqua fitness instructor, 115 people were giving it their all in the pool at Lake Umuzi’s AquaZone Waterpark.
This was also the biggest South African venue reported to date.
Secunda is one of only 10 venues in South Africa where the Aquathon was hosted.
The participants did water aerobics for three hours with Theresa and Alisha Lumley as the only instructors.
There were only short intervals every 30 minutes for participants to drink water and freshen up.
The event raised R8 700 for CANSA in entrance fees.
Theresa, thanked her sponsors especially Lake Umuzi, The Bulletin, Minute Man Press, Avbob and Encee van Huyssteen.
She aims to make next year even bigger and better.
