The Secunda Round Table 231 held a R5 day at the Bethal Spar recently where customers were given R5 in exchange for non-perishable items.
According to chairman Ruan van der Merwe they were able to collect food worth more than R5 000.
This was distributed between the Bethal Soup Kitchen and Lynette Victor’s outreach to the homeless in Secunda.
“We thank the Bethal community, and especially the owners of the Bethal Spar for their support.
“These business people were willing to accommodate and support our project at short notice,” Carl van Staden said.
The bulk of the food was delivered to the Bethal Soup Kitchen.
Lynette Victor collected a stack of groceries on Monday.
“I am so thankful.
“This is an answer to our prayers and will last us a while.
Especially now during the festive season,” she said.
She thanked the Round Table for the donation.
“It is not easy to get help for the homeless , but I believe they too need to hear the Word of God and to be shown kindness,” she said.
Lynette and friends serve meals to homeless people on Tuesdays and every second Thursdays.
This time is also used to minister to those in need.
