Members of the Amateur Radio Club get ready to launch a high altitude balloon last year at the Trichardt Model Flyers airfi eld.

The Secunda Amateur Radio Club will be launching a high altitude balloon on Saturday, 15 October at Trichardt Model Flyers airfield.
The BACAR 4-launch will start at 05:00 and this is the fourth year that this radio club will be hosting the BACAR program.
It is offered to schools interested in the Govan Mbeki area.
Hennie Maas, presenter of the radio programme, Stêrre en Planete on the radio station, RSG, will be hosting a talk at Hoërskool Oosterland at 10:00 on Friday, 7 October.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
The high altitude balloon will be carrying small satellites built by pupils from the schools taking part.
According to Christo Kriek from the Secunda Amateur Radio Club, the program is designed to stimulate an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
