Man shoots dad, himself

A young man apparently shot his father multiple times before committing suicide in eMbalenhle on Friday night, 19 August.
According to police spokesman, Capt Magonseni Nkosi, it appears that the 56-year old father was shot with nine bullets from his 26-year old son’s firearm.
“Both the father and the son were at home at their house in Ext 9, eMbalenhle.  When the father’s wife, who was not home, tried to call them on their cell phones, they did not answer. “She eventually told her younger son to go home and check if everything was fine at home.”
Capt Nkosi said the younger son found the body of his father, as well as his brother’s body. The brother had one gunshot wound at the back of his head and his privately owned firearm was close by.
“We are trying to establish what might have led to the shooting,” Nkosi said.
The father has been identified as Johannes Seopa, an employee at Sasol’s instrumentation department.
