Joanita Visser (19), born and bred in Secunda, was chosen as a finalist in the Miss United Continents South Africa Pageant.
This event will be held in Johannesburg on Saturday, 28 May and the winner will represent South Africa in Guayaquil Ecuador in August.
This is the first year that South Africa will take part in this pageant.
Joanita is currently a first year student at North West University and is studying a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
“Since I was a little girl, it has always been my dream to teach,” said Visser.
Her hobbies include artistic colouring and exercising at the gymnasium.
Visser’s motto in life is: ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain.’
She entered the competition because this pageant is a platform for the finalist to become a charity and cultural ambassador, who aims to empower women to become the best version of themselves.
“My vision is to empower, inspire and educate and I believe in being the change that we want to see in the world through charity and upliftment”.
“I am also very involved in charity and have several projects going.”
